A Modern Day "Christmas Story"
Have you seen the movie "A Christmas Story"? And the scene where the son is helping his father change a flat tire...while holding the hubcap filled with lugnuts for his dad something happens and the hubcap goes flying with all the nuts being scattered everywhere. Okay, now mentally change the picture of the hubcap to the offering plate at Christmas Eve service and that is how we spent our time at church thanks to Noah! Our new worship center has movie style seats and there was not an empty seat, to the point that they had to add chairs in the back. So we're talking probably close to 1500 people. We got there later than planned so we were somewhat near the back. And with everyone having their kiddos with them the offering plate was FULL by the time it got to us - mostly with coins. Anyway, when it got to us Noah, who was sitting between me and Paul, was bent over looking at Jacob who was sitting on the floor. Right as I handed the plate to Paul, Noah bolts upright, knocking the plate out of our hands and sending it flying. Change went soaring for about three rows around us either direction! Fortunately, no expletives came out of our mouths (unlike the movie), but we were thoroughly embarrassed. After the service, the grandmother behind us gave us a sympathetic pat on the back and said that she was the mother of five boys. I'm telling ya - NEVER a dull moment!! Oh well, I guess it could have been worse...it could have been the tray of grape juice during the Lord's Supper!!!
